fitPrescriptions LLC was formed in 1994 by Mike and Linda Stollings. Linda was at that time the Fitness Director for the Bristol YMCA. She also taught many fitness and wellness classes. She saw the need to educate people on the benefits not only of aerobic conditioning but also of strength conditioning.

Linda decided to open up a small business on the side and, with the help of her husband Mike, fitPrescriptions was born. Because of Linda’s passion for fitness and her background in Physical Education, she obtained her personal training certification from the American Council on Exercise. She began training clients at the YMCA and also other local gyms. She was also the official trainer of the Miss Virginia Pageant. The business grew at such a rapid pace, Linda then moved into the training and wellness consulting full time. Linda began to host an exercise segment on a local CBS television affiliate. She hosted the show for over 12 years.
She is a weekly contributing author to the Bristol Herald Courier, a daily local newspaper. The Bristol Herald Courier is owned by BH Media Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc.  The articles are not just local they go all over the East Coast. Linda has touched and trained hundreds of people over the years, her passion for fitness is contagious.

Mike and Linda have now decided to take their business a step further and launch this the fitPrescriptions web presence. The mission of this website is to help educate, demonstrate, and motivate people towards their fitness goals. The goal is to positively touch their clients physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Emily Stollings Kopek, their daughter, has joined the business to help them spread their passion. Emily graduated from The College of William & Mary with a BS in Kinesiology and has completed her Master of Exercise Science at UT. She is currently a practicing Physicians Assistant in Knoxville, Tennessee. Emily is a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise.
